Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India
examination that basically tests the complete understanding of different
undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology. Gate is conducted
together by the Indian Institute of Science and seven's (IIT Kharagpur, IIT
Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee, IIT Delhi and IIT Guwahati) for
the benefit of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher
Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and Government of India.
The GATE
Score of an applicant reflects the relative execution level of a student. The
score is utilized for admissions to different post-graduate projects (e.g.
M.tech, M.E. and immediate Ph.d.) in Indian higher education establishments
with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government orgs. The GATE
score may also be utilized by Public division units for employment screening
purposes.
